Introducing Rapid Push Verification

Read Time: 5 min

When our customers make the decision to purchase Localytics, they expect to see a return on their investment. The faster we can get our customers up and running, the faster they can start seeing an ROI. That’s why we’re launching our new Rapid Push Verification, which makes it fast and easy for our customers to confirm they have properly configured their app to receive Localytics push notifications and troubleshoot any problems. Check out the video below or read on to learn more:

Although the process of integrating push notifications into your app is relatively straightforward, the number of moving parts means there are a lot of opportunities for something to go wrong. If that happens, it can be tricky to identify what’s broken. Rapid Push Verification addresses this challenge by testing every part of your integration step-by-step. If something isn’t right, the tool will tell you how you can fix the problem.

Here’s How Rapid Push Verification Works:

  1. You access Rapid Push Verification by going to the Settings page in the Localytics Dashboard. Find the app whose integration you want to test and click on the button that says “Test your Push Integration”.

  2. The process starts by ensuring that you’ve followed the instructions in our docs for integrating push notifications. In order to use Push Verification, you also need to be running SDK 4.1.0+ and you need to enable the test mode URL scheme.

  3. After reminding you of the requirements that are needed to use Rapid Push Verification, the test confirms that you have uploaded your app’s push certificate or GCM API key to Localytics. It also checks that any certificates you’ve uploaded are valid.

  4. Next, we generate a QR code that will link your phone directly to Rapid Push Verification. You can scan the code using most barcode scanner apps.

  5. Once you’ve linked your phone, Rapid Push Verification runs a test to confirm that your app is properly assigning push tokens.

  6. At this point, it’s time to actually send yourself a push notification. All you have to do is click the Send Push button and within a few seconds, a push notification should pop up on your phone.

  7. The last step is for you to tap on the push notification to open the message. When you do that, we are able to confirm that our tracking tags are working properly so that you can collect data on message sends and opens.

Troubleshooting is Easier Than Ever

Perhaps the best part of Rapid Push Verification is how easy it makes troubleshooting. When the tool detects an issue, it displays an error message that clearly states what is wrong and the steps you can take to fix it. Gone are the days where your developers had to blindly guess at what could be causing an issue with your push integration.

That’s all there is to it. Rapid Push Verification goes a long way towards simplifying the process of testing and troubleshooting your push integration, which has always been a frustrating and time consuming experience.
