South by Southwest Interactive kicks off in Austin, Texas this Friday with a packed schedule of events that promises to deliver on the festival’s values of “innovation, creativity, and inspiration.” SXSW Interactive has long been an essential event for anyone in emerging technology, and this year’s festival is shaping up to be an exciting one for mobile in particular with over 100 mobile-focused events.

In advance of the festivities, we’ve pinpointed three key themes that will guide the mobile discussion at SXSW.
Many brands are stuck in legacy, web-centric ways of communicating with their customers. Mobile apps offer a unique opportunity to engage directly with users in real-time. As users become increasingly demanding of the responsiveness and omni-channel presence of the brands they do business with, businesses must adapt their communications strategies from one of ‘talking to’ to long-term relationship building.
